DoVE Council - Mission Statement
|
The mission of the Council is to reduce the level and
seriousness of domestic violence incidents and to eliminate
domestic violence deaths in Wyoming.
The Council will provide guidance throughout the state to
proactively address domestic violence issues in every
community in the State.
The Council will also work to increase awareness among
public, governmental and private agencies of the causes,
effects and magnitude of domestic violence.
To that end, the Council will proactively promote the
development of a system-wide response in each community to
domestic violence which will enable victims to be safe and
perpetrators are held accountable.
In order to achieve it's mission of reducing the level of
serious incidents and eliminating domestic violence deaths,
the Council will, at a minimum:
- Hold community meetings around the State to gather
input from the public, criminal justice system,
advocates, medical professionals, human service
professional and all who work with and care about
victims of domestic violence;
- Identify and work toward eliminating barriers which
prevent victims access to services and enable them to be
safe; and
- Recommend training standards, work to increase
resources, promote effective batterer's re-education,
and work to enact effective laws addressing domestic
violence.
